Mark
Kelly
Born into a showbiz family, his father a comedy illusionist and his mother a cabaret singer, Mark spent much of his childhood touring the UK with his parents, as well as making the occasional appearance as an extra on TV. His musical career started when he was in his teens, as a singer and guitarist in a cover band playing pubs and social clubs in his home town, Birmingham. In his late teens, he co-formed soul band "Rights Reserved" in the mid eighties, with ex-Dexys sax man, Steve O'Boyle, playing all over the UK, supporting the likes of "The Real Thing" and "The Trevor Burton Band" (ex-Move). After moving to Amsterdam, Holland in 1990 he worked as a solo singer/guitarist in Amsterdams bars and restaurants. In 1994 he co-formed the accoustic folk trio "The Hungry Onions" who later developed into a full five piece rock band, playing extensively in and around Amsterdam, making regular appearances in "The Last Waterhole", "O'Reilly's" and the famous "Winston Hotel". In 1997 he went on to form rock combo "The Trapdoor Spiders" who were favourites at Amsterdams "Melkweg" club. In 2000 he co-formed "The Two Lips" duo with Annemarie Rijswijk. Apart from being a musician, Mark worked as a resident sound and lighting engineer in "The Cave" music cafe and in "Rock Supplies" studio's in Amsterdam. He also qualified as a Multimedia Producer at Amsterdams School of Audio Engineering (SAE). |
